What’s the fun stuff for reInvent 2018? Play is almost as important at reInvent 2018 as work. This year will be no exception. The event will open with three world records, including the largest air drum ensemble, most people lighting glow sticks simultaneously, as well as the largest eating contest for chicken wings. There will also be fun runs of four and eight kilometers, Harley rides, and a broomball tourney.
Are there any keynotes that I should pay attention to? Werner Vogels’ presentation last year was three hours long and featured a live UFC fight. There were also product announcements such as Amazon Cloud9 IDE and AWS Serverless Application Repository. Expect some surprises. The year promises to be a fascinating overview of the industry’s current state as well as educated guesses about its future.
Anywhere else to look for new product announcements?Midnight Madness, which kicks off the event on Sunday November 25, is the only session that absolutely promises some exclusives and should be worth heading to town early for. If you are looking for product information, Andy Jassy’s keynote speech on November 28 should be your first priority. It would be shocking if Werner didn’t make any announcements during his session.
