What would happen if the PMI audit fails?First and foremost, the PMP(r) or PMI-ACP(r) candidate is not able to proceed with the certificationapplication and examination. The certification fee paid will be refunded, with the subtraction of processing fees. There may also be follow-up actions by PMI depending upon the reason for failure of the PMI audit.

If the audit fails because of incomplete information (including documents sent to PMI in more that one package), PMI will not take any action. However, the candidate can reapply for certification within one year.
If the failure is due to fraudulent information, PMI can take disciplinary action (including banning the application to PMI certification to life to the candidate in question) as PMI takes integrity very seriously. Honesty is the best policy.
